Controversy heated up when the book The Shepard's Granddaughter was released. Some say, that it shows prejudice towards Israelis. There are always two sides to every story. In this case, the Israelis think that the book was meant to hate them. The Palestinian think that all Israelis are bad, and that everyone should hate them, because they deserve it.
In this world, there are no good guys, or bad guys. Just because you are part of a race, or group, and they did something wrong, it doesn't mean that everyone in that group or race is bad. But then again, I can imagine just how the Palestinians would feel if they get treated that way by many Israelis. Having to say this, I do not agree in any of the sides. However, I do understand how each of them feels.
There has been a long history of conflicts against Israel, which to some people, may be new information. Thus, causing prejudice towards the Israelis, especially if they read the Shepard’s Granddaughter without much background knowledge. This will cause lots of hatred towards the Israelis. However, just because many Israelis are harsh and injustice to the Palestinians, it doesn't mean that ALL Israelis are bad people. It is like saying whoever came from the same country as Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist. This is just a way of portraying racism.
Then again, I feel the pain that the Palestinians might have felt. I can understand why they have such bad impression towards the Israelis. To me, I think that the book is a way of letting the Palestinians show the world how they feel. And let the world experience the pain with them.
In spite of that, still, many Israelis don't care. Also, they think that the book, the Shepard’s Granddaughter should be banned from the open eye, and hidden, for special requests because it shows bias and prejudice towards them. I have to say that it is true. This book does make readers create hatred towards the Israelis. This brings me back to the point from above. I don't think it's fair that it creates hatred towards MANY, if not ALL, Israelis. I also do not agree that the Minister of Education should take the book off shelves, or hide it away from the public. Note: This is only ONE perspective of a young Palestinian girl. I believe that everything people do, have a reason.
Yes, the world should know what's going on to the Palestinians, but they should also realize why the Israelis are doing that. To conclude this post, I'd like to remind everyone that people have the freedom of speech. They should be free to write whatever they want, publish it, and let it be an un-hidden resource to the world. But it is up to YOU, and YOU only, to decide what's right and wrong. To help you, you should look up the history of conflicts between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Oh what to do, what to do
There are over 100 different types of jobs out there. Many are fascinating, others are plain boring. Some people know what occupation they would like to have in their adult life, I’m not one of those people. I just can't decide one job! There are SO many possibilities out there! And because of that, over the course of my life, I have changed my mind. SEVERAL times.
Grade one: a teacher, firefighter, a police, a surgeon
Grade two: librarian
Grade three: a teacher
Grade four: a cashier (mhmm, I wanted to be a cashier)
Grade five: a doctor
Grade six: teacher, an astronaut, a person who works in the NASA place ( yup, that was the year where I feel in love with astronomy)
Grade seven: a pediatrician, person who works in NASA
Since I was little, my parents kept on telling me to become a lawyer or a doctor, because they have a good pay. Currently, I have interest to become a pediatrician because I like to take care of kids, and help them out. It gives me a feeling that I have done something good. I also like to become a person who works in NASA because i LOVE astronomy. It's so fascinating! Of course, to achieve this, a great amount of study and effort will have to be put it. That is why, I will try my hardest to get goods grades.

If
I know the 'poem' season in English has already come and gone, but there's still this one poem that I want to share with you guys. It's quite meaningful. (:
Here is MY explanation of the poem. The words that are in black is part of the poem, and the words in red describe what I think the phrase ABOVE means.
If
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can still have your inner voice, the voice inside of you, telling you to hang on, while everyone is blaming things on you.
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
Self-explanatory
But make allowance for their doubting too;
Think: Why are they thinking this way, am I doing something wrong?
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Be patient
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
You're being lied about, people are spreading rumors about you, but you don't tell any lies/rumors.
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
People hate you, but you don't hate them
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
Don't be too good of a 'goody-good too shoos'
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
Yes, you can dream, but don't ALWAYS dream. Live up to reality
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
Let your mind run soar free, but don't always count on your thoughts to come true.
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
Don't be really happy when something happens, and don't be too sad when disaster strikes.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
What you say should be the truth.
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
But a little sarcasm won't hurt.
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
Self-explanatory
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
Don't give up, get up from where you fell
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
Don't give up on the one thing you REALLY think is important to you
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
But be able to take risks.
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
When it breaks, start again.
And never breath a word about your loss;
And yet, don't say anything about your loss
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
Force yourself to work hard
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
So you will still benefit from them long after you have completed it.
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Don't give up. Even when you feel like there is nothing in your life that is worth it.
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
Once again, don't give up.
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Hang out with people that are just like you, but have something have your own independent strength.
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
Or hang out with people, which seem to be more ‘popular/rich’ than you are, and still be true to yourself.
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
No enemy can hurt you. If you come to think of it, the point of view from the people who are closest to you matter the most. But no matter how harsh or bad they say, it won't hurt you.
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If everyone counts on you, but you don't give pressure to yourself.
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
Forgive people, even though it may seem impossible at the moment
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
But still think whether it is right or wrong.
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
You'll be 'perfect'
Rudyard Kipling
Once again, the comments in RED are my opinions on what I think the phrase meant. Of course, you may have a different idea, you can always comment on it (: and tell me what you think. Yeah yeah, I know, it is really hard to do all that, but I adivise you to try. There's no harm in trying.
To me, the three hardest things in this poem that I should keep in mind are:
1)trust yourself when all men doubt you
2)meet with triumph and disaster, and treat those two imposters just the same
3)neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
What's your's?

We Are The World 2010
25 years ago, January 28, 1985, to be exact, singing sensations from all USA gathered in one music studio to sing one song. This one song had such a deep meaning that people from all around the world was moved and touched. This song is, We Are The World.
We Are The World was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. This song was co-composed by Quincy Jones. The song was released on March 7, 1985, as the only single from the album. A worldwide commercial success, it topped music charts throughout the world and became the fastest-selling American pop single in history. This song was to raise money for the people in Africa, where they live in poverty.
Conductor: Quincy Jones
Soloists (in order of appearance): Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry, Daryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Cyndi Lauper ,Kim Carnes, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles
Chorus: Dan Aykroyd, Harry Belafonte, Lindsey Buckingham, Mario Cipollina, Johnny Colla, Sheila E., Bob Geldof, Bill Gibson, Chris Hayes, Sean Hopper, Jackie Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Randy Jackson, Tito Jackson, Waylon Jennings, Bette Midler, John Oates, Jeffrey Osborne, Anita Pointer, Ruth Pointer, Smokey Robinson
To me, this one of my favourite songs because it is sung by so many great singing legends. Also, this song has a very powerful meaning. I am glad that even celebrities of the past were recognizing this crisis of poverty. If you haven't already, give this song a listen!

It's good eh?
On Tuesday, 12 January 2010, a treacherous earthquake struck Haiti. Serious damage was made and LOTS of lives lost.
25 years after the 1985 legendary song, a remake of We Are The World was made. This time, instead of raising awareness and raising money for humanitarian aid, over 90 singing stars of today, from all over America, come together as one. Singing the remix version of We Are The World, hoping to raise money for Haiti.
Some of the stars include: Janet Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Quincy Jones, Celine Dion, Pink, Fergie, Wil.i.am, Lionel Richie, Nicole Richie, Akon, Jordin Sparks, Kayne West, Jennifer Hudson, Brandy, the Jonas Brothers, and Keri Hilson.
Here it is!! (btw, if this video doesn't show up like the one from above, click here...again, this will direct you to the video on youtube.)
A nice remix!
This is a nice remix of the song. Even though the stars that sung in this song are very popular now a days, I still prefer the original version better. The original version has a more affecting tune. It is soft and slow, unlike the new one. However, the remixed version seemed very unique because it involved some rapping parts and some Haitian language. They also included clips of the children in Haiti, singing and dancing to the song. Also, they merged in a little part of Michael Jackson and his sister, Janet Jackson singing. It is a shame that Michael Jackson couldn't live up to see this.
All the artists here used their singing talent to show their care for Haiti. If celebrities and stars like them have a heart, you should to. The smallest thing you can do is to help Haiti. Please donate. I am sure each and every person in Haiti would appreciate it. I would too.
Thank you.

Here are the lyrics to We Are The World:
There comes a time
When we head a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all
We can't go on
Pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of
God's great big family
And the truth, you know love is all we need
[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand
[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
That a change will only come
When we stand together as one
[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
I hope you like the song as much as me (:
