Background info:
Contacts lenses are basically breathable, firm, durable, plastic that is custom fitted to the shape of the cornea.
They usually serve the same corrective purpose as glasses, but are lightweight and virtually invisible. It has been estimated that 125 million people use contact lenses worldwide (2%).
There are different types of contacts lenses, such as:
· Corrective contact lenses -designed to improve vision
· Cosmetic contact lenses -designed to change the appearance of the eye
How the lenses look like :
< this is what my contacts look like as well, but one of mine is green, and the other one is blue. ( when the cons. are in your eyes, there is not change in your eye colour.)A couple of weeks ago, during the first week of January, I went to the optometrist to get my eyes checked up. It turns out, that my eye prescription is increasing very fast. If this continues to happen, when I'm older, I will not be able to laser eye surgery ( to get rid of my glasses). Seeing where this is going, my parents asked a friend of mine about night contacts. She has been wear these contacts to sleep every night, for the past year, and in the morning, she had 20/20 vision. My parents thought that this might be a good new way for me to keep my eye prescription steady and not increase any higher. I once again, got my eye checked up by a professional optometrist that specializes in eye contacts.
You guessed it. In a few weeks, I got my pair of eye contacts. They aren't easy to put on, and they require lots of patience. After band practice, nearly every week, I went to the place and got my training lessons. I learned ( well, technically, my MOM learned, cause I was too scared… heh heh) how to put on the contacts without blinking, how to wash it, what to do if something unexpected happens, and how to take care of it. Not many lessons after ( last week, Wednesday), I was able to take it home and put it on.
The type of contacts that I use are not the ones that you wear in the morning (oh yeah, btw, they are the type of contacts that correct my vision), they are the ones that you wear at night, while you're sleeping.
The next morning, when I woke up and took of the lenses, I was surprised to find my vision a WHOLE lot better than before. In fact, it was so good that I had to use my grade THREE glasses.(those were the only ones in which I could see clear through them). However, during that day, I only used my grade 3 glasses to see the board and details. I didn’t want to war them for the whole day because
a) they looked weird
b) they were too small for my face ( let me remind you again, these are my GRADE THREE glasses)
c) I could make out the object…etc. without my glasses, they were just blurry.
I will need to sleep with the lenses in my eyes for about a week until I have 20/20 vision in the morning.
Here is a short youtube video that will give you a better idea of how night contacts help.
