A picture is worth a thousand words people say. It's true. One look at a picture and many thoughts flood in. Some pictures create more thoughts than others. Some pictures like the ones below cause a GREAT amount of thoughts, some not so nice.

The link above will teleport you back to 1918, to the Battle of Vimy Ridge. You will see, in front of your eyes, the terrifying truth of war. I'm not sure many people, except for those who have, or had family members in war, think about war often. However, when you come face to face with pictures that you not normally see, you can't help, but put yourself in their shoes, in this case, a soldier's shoes, and try to think about what it must have been like. Tears will fill your eyes.
No one should deserve to know that any second, they might be blown up, or shot. No one should wonder whether the person that is standing beside them will still be here the next day. No one should doubt that they won't live up to see tomorrow. However, the truth is hard to face. Sadly, we do have people that think like that, in fact, MANY people think like that. These people are our heroes. These people are the bravest men and women in the world. These people are the soldiers. Why do I think that they're brave? Well, not only are they trying to bring peace to our country, but they have to FIGHT for it. Fighting is not the hardest part. Just by looking at the conditions that these soldiers live in and 'chill' in, will bring you Goosebumps.
War is not a good thing at all, even though it brings peace. War causes grief and pain to everyone. People who have family members or loved ones who are soldiers will feel sadness BEFORE the war, having to prepare for their loved ones to leave. DURING the war, they will pray and hope that their loved ones are all right. AFTER the war, they will have to bare all the sadness because their loved ones had past away. Then again, there are always the lucky ones, the soldiers that survive. However, just because they survived, it doesn't mean that they weren't hurt. EVERYONE gets hurt in wars. Some physically, but EVERONE mentally. All the lucky soldiers that made it back from war are cursed with terrifying memories. However, there are few that made it back. Many, many, MANY people died, and MANY people are still missing, even to today.
Now that I have learned so much about war from the pictures of Vimy Ridge, I respect the soldiers, the ones that bought us peace by paying with their lives, even more. It is great that nationally, we have a day to remember these soldiers. Although I think, they deserve more than that.
To those who died in a war, any war:
Rest In Peace, my heroes.
